Any recommended design flow for GC02S1?

Hello Sequans community,

I’m planning to purchase 10 GC02S1 modules from Mouser to build a smart home automation PoC. Do you recommend any specific development flow or best practices to minimize design risks and reduce the number of board spins?”

Thanks for your hints

Tom

Hi Tom,

Thank you for your message. It’s always a good practice to review the recommended flow before starting your design.

First, we suggest downloading the full documentation set, especially the GC02S1 datasheet, which includes a dedicated section on Hardware Design Recommendations. This covers RF interface guidelines and PCB layout rules.

Additionally, under the Hardware Design folder, you’ll find the design files for the Sequans EVK, which can serve as a useful reference. Don’t forget to review the Schematic Checklist—it’s a great tool for self-verifying your design and reducing risk.

Once you’ve completed these steps and before sending your files for PCB manufacturing, feel free to contact us to schedule a submission of your design and layout files for review by our hardware specialists. After implementing any suggested changes, you can proceed with manufacturing, and there’s a good chance you’ll avoid a respin.

Finally, if you plan to use an integrated antenna, we recommend starting discussions with antenna vendors early to identify the best solution for your design. This can sometimes influence your PCB’s size and shape, especially for very compact designs. If you don’t have vendor contacts, we can connect you with our partners.

I hope this helps!

Best Regards

Imad
