What certifications (FCC, PTCRB, GCF) do I need for my end product using GM02SP/SKY66431 modules?

Hello,

I would like to operate on Verizon network and use the GM02SP or SKY66431. What certifications to I need to take care of? Can I fully leverage the FCC and GCF? Any extra testing with the operator?

Thanks,

BTK

Hello,

You will need FCC, GCF and Verizon certification.

Hi Brian,

To clarify:

  • FCC – This is mandatory for all wireless products, and you will need your own FCC ID. The module’s FCC ID can be fully leveraged, and you can follow the guidance in section 5.1 of our data sheet (FCC Regulatory Approval).

  • GCF (Verizon’s primary reference) – Here, you would follow Verizon’s recommendations on which tests to perform. The module’s GCF certification can be largely leveraged as well, with potential additional testing around RF radiated spurious emissions, antenna performance, and the SIM.

  • Operator certification – Again, you’ll follow Verizon’s directions, clearly indicating the module (and firmware version) being used.
