Hi Sequans team,

Does Sequans provide any jamming detection capability in its modems/modules?

If yes, could you please explain how it works and what information is available to the application when a jamming event is detected?

Hi John,

1\ Yes, SQN GC02S1(with SW version LR9.0.6.1-64123) support jamming detection.
2\ The LTE module continuously monitors several RF signal quality indicators, including RSRP (Reference Signal Received Power), RSRQ (Reference Signal Received Quality), RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator), and CINR (Carrier-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio). These parameters are analyzed by a detection algorithm to assess whether the current radio environment is experiencing jamming.

A potential jamming condition is identified when multiple signal quality metrics deteriorate simultaneously—for example, unusually high RSSI levels accompanied by poor RSRQ values. The detection algorithm uses configurable threshold settings and requires the abnormal conditions to persist across multiple measurement intervals before declaring a jamming event.

Once jamming is confirmed, the LTE module generates an Unsolicited Result Code (URC) notification and reports the event to the host system.
